MicroTech's contribution in Empowering Women in Pakistan
U.S.-Pakistan Women's Council celebrated the successful completion of the second cohort of the Future of Women in Energy (FWE) Scholar program in Islamabad, Pakistan. This year, 19 Pakistani female undergraduate students pursuing their bachelor's degrees in science or engineering participated in a three-week program at Texas A&M University - Qatar, Islamabad, and Lahore, Pakistan.
The goal of the FWE program is to increase the number of women in Pakistan's energy sector by promoting education in energy studies and to inspire young women to participate in and lead on important energy issues in Pakistan. After the program's completion, PSIA successfully placed over 58% (11 out of 19) of the FWE scholars in energy sector organizations - both in the public and private sectors. These energy sector organizations included Packages Limited, Sapphire Wind Power Company, Schlumberger, OZI Technology Private Limited - Jolta Batteries, Micro Tech Industries Private Limited, Ibrahim Fibers Limited, Midas Safety, Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), Pakistan's Private Power & Infrastructure Board, and the Water and Sanitation Authority - Faisalabad (WASA).
